My name is Nicole Webb; I’m the owner of The Yoga Getaway, where I organize retreats worldwide.

The Yoga Getaway was created in November 2012 from two deeply rooted passions, yoga and travel. I came from a background in the online marketing industry and found myself at a crossroads with my career. I decided to leave my job to take some time off and explore my interests.

After attending a yoga and surf retreat in Bali I fell in love immediately with the experience. I wanted to continue to recreate this through new destinations and with unique groups of people. From there I established The Yoga Getaway and haven’t looked back…

I start my day with a cup of decaf coffee and almond milk.

I relax by taking hot baths, yoga classes and spending quality time with friends, and just being outdoors.

If I could wake up anywhere tomorrow it would be at home in my own bed! I am very content to be in Los Angeles at the moment. Just enjoying the comforts of everyday life that I have around me.

My travel tip is to pack light. It takes some strategic planning prior to departure but is well worth it.

My secret to staying young is not sweating the small stuff, just realizing only you have control over your own actions, and not those of others. My beauty secret would be coconut oil; I use it as a natural moisturizer on my face and body.

Best advice for people deciding on a retreat would be to get to know the instructor’s teaching style before the retreat. If you are local, attend their classes or ask as many questions as possible before booking. Since yoga can be such a huge part of the retreat experience it is great if you can get to know the instructor beforehand.

The main reason people attend my Yoga Getaway retreats is because they are looking to travel with like-minded individuals, meet new people, in a transitional period in their lives or just want a healthy vacation.

The favorite part of my job is traveling and yoga! Also just connecting with new people who also share similar interests.

My favourite type of yoga is vinyasa/power yoga.

My most treasured possession is my friendships.

I wish I hadn’t … I don’t have any regrets. Everything has happened in my life for a reason and if you’re smart, you will take that lesson and learn from it. We are wiser because of our experiences and the risks we have taken. They don’t always work out but I would never trade in any of my life experiences I have had, good or bad!

My happiest moment was when I quit my corporate job a year and a half ago. I saved three years’ worth of living expenses and was determined to figure out what I was most passionate about in life and to then try to make a career from it.

Friends say I’m loyal, honest and a good listener.

My greatest fear is not experiencing life to the very fullest.

I think anything is possible if you are determined and willing to take risks.

I’m always being asked; how did you get the courage to start your own business? For me, it didn’t really cross my mind that it was a courageous act in any way. It just felt like something I had to do in order to move forward and find the happiest version of myself.

My worst job was after college I worked front desk at a salon. It wasn’t a horrible job but I just felt so unchallenged and underutilized being that I had just received my bachelor’s degree.

My motivational tip is to take baby steps and don’t compare yourself to others. When you start to feel overwhelmed, take a step back and see what the next indicated step is.

If I wasn’t me I’d like to be … I’m pretty confident and comfortable in my own skin. If you had asked me this same question in my 20’s it might have been a different answer!
